Leonardo wins International Critical Communication Award with CSP_MCX platform

30 June 2022

Leonardo won the International Critical Communications Award (ICCA) in the category for the best MC-X solution, awarded by the jury during CCW22, the three-day event dedicated to critical communications held in Vienna, Austria from June 21st to 23rd.

CSP-MCX (Communication Service Platform-Mission Critical Services), the winning solution, is a platform developed by Leonardo that can implement solutions based on the MCX standard promoted by 3GPP, which extends broadband connectivity to mission-critical services, particularly data and video. This solution enables Push-to-Talk (PTT) communications – adding voice, video and multi-media – and can supply further APIs to develop third-party solutions.

The CSP-MCX platform can be used on both commercial Long-Term Evolution (LTE) and private networks, allowing real-time video streaming, multi-media message services, file transfer, database access, geolocation services and ‘man-down/immobility’ emergency services, crucial for the safety of operators on solo missions.

During the ceremony, held in the Kursalon of the Messe Wien Exhibition Congress Center, Mladen Vratonic, TCCA (The Critical Communication Associations) director, thanked all the winners and the jury members for the “extraordinary work done by the critical communications ecosystem”. Robin Davis, the jury president, underlined the hard task they faced in selecting the winners, due to the high quality of the solutions presented.
